About Awali Anglican Church
Our Church
Within the leafy green setting of the Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) compound in Awali there is a small church, (shared with the Roman Catholic community) which, on Saturday mornings at 9:30 am, is home to what is very much a family community. Some come from the Awali compound, but several people travel from other parts of Bahrain to share in its distinctive informal life. Once a month one of the neighbouring Awali families open their home to the congregation for refreshments, always a happy occasion.
Our Community
The Dean, Assistant Chaplain and Deacon of St Christopher’s Cathedral lead services at Awali and, though Anglican in oversight, the church has a rich mix of people from a variety of Christian traditions. Everyone is warmly welcome to get in touch for prayer and to join us.
Members of the church are invited to join in the wider life of St Christopher’s Cathedral details of which can be found elsewhere on this website and the Churchwarden of Awali serves on the Cathedral Council.
Our Mission
One of the distinctive features of Awali Church is the stained glass window above the altar. It is a copy of the famous picture by Holman Hunt, in both St Paul’s Cathedral and Keble College Oxford,
of The Light of The World.
